Rukz One, born and raised in Melbourne's Western Suburbs, is an artist known for his unique and polarizing style, which oscillates between simplicity and complexity. His work is inspired by skateboarding, hip-hop, Melbourne's street art and graffiti culture, and human experiences. Rukz values collaboration and support within the artistic community, working with artists across Australia and the world through initiatives like #artdecypher, @drawmearobot, and @thecreativestcp. Now focused on the Artdecypher banner he aims to shine a creative light that reaches new locations and audiences by paving new paths that challenge the “norm”. Running multiple small gallery locations helps Rukz provide a low to no-cost option for artists to display their work. Rukz enjoys breaking barriers for creatives by providing opportunities for all experience levels, with a vision to foster connections between various art styles and create a common ground. All while actively supporting these connections to extend into our local communities. In the past, Rukz organized events under the “Creative Culture” banner, combining music and art to provide platforms for creative expression. He has also held leadership roles on the RedWest Creative Co-Op Ltd board as Secretary, Treasurer, and President, and served on Wyndham City’s Creative City Portfolio Advisory Committee and the Public Art & Collections Expert Advisory Panel (PACEAP). Rukz is particularly proud of using his art to support charitable causes including: a charity sticker fundraiser for Heart Support Australia Ltd, partnerships with Woolworths and MLDC Health and Fitness Centre, a Women's Cancer fundraiser, and support for Brody and Ellie’s Helping Hand for Cystic Fibrosis. He created The Iso Life Colouring Book to support the homeless through From Us 2 You Melbourne and Sleepbus, and contributed to the KKCF, which cares for orphans and underprivileged children in Sri Lanka.
