Hannah Keime

Hannah Keime is the creative mind, fierce advocate, and directorial genius behind the Flash The Boobs campaign which led to the Sudden Cardiac Art Exhibition. Hannah is the Co-Founder and President of HeartCharged. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Film.

When Hannah was unexpectedly diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy her first month of high school, she had to give up the dance and sports she was involved in. She then found solace in TV, theater, and film. She had always been an artist and creative and now discovered a new medium with which to express herself which was safe even with her deadly heart condition. Almost immediately she began doing Spoken Word presentations to raise awareness about heart conditions and sudden cardiac arrest in young people.

She then went to film school to better her craft and be able to use her passion for advocacy for better patient experiences for those living with a heart condition.

She is a survivor of sudden cardiac arrest and aims to use her survivor’s gratitude to raise awareness, like at the Sudden Cardiac Art Exhibition, to raise survival rates.

Hannah knows a picture is worth a thousand words, and until you see a woman topless with AED pads, you will not fully understand the ridiculousness of letting women die because of their anatomy. Hannah is a storyteller. Collaborating with her sister, they knew they had to get creative in order to bring to light the dismal statistics for women surviving sudden cardiac arrest.

Hannah is an award-winning filmmaker, patient advocate, and leader in the resuscitation community. Her hope for one day is to create on the screen the representation of heart patients she would have liked to have found on the screen when she was newly diagnosed.

About Hannah’s work “HeartCharged Woman: CEO”:

This HeartCharged Woman knows it’s good business to have workplaces equipped with defibrillators.

Sudden cardiac arrest accounts for nearly 20% of all mortality in industrialized countries.

So she considers defibrillators a wise capital outlay that can bring huge returns in employee retention.

She is still working on addressing people’s hesitations to use the defibrillators by undressing and setting the example at the top by leaving her top off. She knows inefficiency and slow response times keep profits low and death rates up.

A defibrillator should be used within 3 minutes of a sudden cardiac arrest. That’s why you see this HeartCharged Woman, pads in place and resuscitation ready.

Because time is more than money.

About Hannah’s work “HeartCharged Woman: ARTIST”:

This HeartCharged Woman thinks resuscitation is an art form. Artist William Blake said, “Art can never exist without naked beauty displayed.” She says, “Defibrillation can never exist without naked beauty displayed”, so “Flash the boobs to save a life”.

Sudden cardiac arrest survival rates are at 10% but could be at 70% if people would do that.

This HeartCharged Woman is proud to paint nudes and to paint nude, showing people what to do in a cardiac emergency and being resuscitation ready should she be the one in sudden cardiac arrest.

Artist Frida Kahlo said, “I paint flowers so they will not die.” This HeartCharged Woman has a similar mission. She says, “I paint women so they will not die.”

About Hannah’s work “HeartCharged Woman: PARAMEDIC”:

This HeartCharged Woman is putting the naked truth out there and is all about giving support to people who need to face their resuscitation fears. She’s totally up front about the difference quickly using a defibrillator or doing CPR makes.

She knows that once emergency services are called, on average, it takes 8 minutes to arrive at the scene and by then, without a defibrillator having been used or CPR done, a sudden cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival is under 20% and brain and organ damage has begun.

It’s not her but the people on the scene who determine life or death and quality of life. That’s why she wants to nip any fears in the bud and encourages everyone to keep abreast of the latest training. A defibrillator is easy enough for any boob to use.

This HeartCharged Woman is especially concerned though that people are much less likely to help a woman than a man in cardiac arrest. It’s usually for two reasons which she invites you to check out.

* Each HeartCharged Woman in this series comes from the minds of Bethany & Hannah Keime, Co-Founders of HeartCharged, and is portrayed by one of them as well. They are part of the Flash The Boobs to Save A Life campaign, bringing needed attention to the fact that women are less likely to be resuscitated in a cardiac emergency for two reasons, their boobs. That’s why each HeartCharged Woman is certified ‘Resuscitation Ready’, boobs bared and defibrillator pads attached, saving any bystanders from having to make the decision to remove their top or the time it would have taken.
